Vacuum Will Not Turn On
- No power supply: Check the wall outlet, plug, power cord, breaker, and power switch.
- Cordless battery discharged: Charge the battery fully using the approved charging dock or adapter before restarting.
- Battery not seated correctly: Remove and reinstall the battery until it locks securely into place.
- Thermal protection activated: Turn off the vacuum, unplug it, clear blockages, clean filters, and allow the motor to cool before use.
- Handle or body not assembled correctly: Confirm that the handle, wand, tank, and motor housing are locked into their operating positions.
Loss of Suction
- Dirt tank full: Empty the dirt tank before debris reaches the maximum fill line.
- Filters dirty: Clean or replace pre-motor, post-motor, foam, pleated, or HEPA filters according to the model manual.
- Hose blocked: Remove the hose and check for hair, paper, toys, or packed debris along its full length.
- Brush roll area clogged: Remove hair, threads, carpet fibers, and debris wrapped around the brush roll and end caps.
- Tank or filter not installed properly: Reinstall the dirt tank and filters securely so the vacuum can maintain an airtight seal.
Brush Roll Will Not Spin
- Brush roll switch off: Confirm the brush roll or floor-type control is enabled for carpet cleaning.
- Hair wrapped around brush: Remove the brush roll and carefully cut away hair, string, thread, and fibers.
- Belt worn or broken: Inspect the drive belt on applicable models and replace it if stretched, cracked, or broken.
- Brush roll jammed: Clear debris from the brush chamber, end caps, and belt path before restarting.
- Floor head blocked: Check the intake opening and nozzle for compacted dirt or objects restricting airflow.
Vacuum Leaves Dirt Behind
- Height setting incorrect: Adjust the cleaning head height or floor setting to match carpet, rugs, or hard flooring.
- Brush roll worn: Replace the brush roll if bristles are flattened, uneven, or no longer make proper contact with the floor.
- Air path restricted: Clear blockages from the hose, wand, nozzle, and dirt tank inlet.
- Dirty filters: Wash or replace filters as required by the manual to restore airflow.
- Slow movement needed: Vacuum slowly over high-traffic carpet so the brush roll and suction system can collect embedded debris.
CrossWave®, Wet Dry & Floor Washer Problems
- No water or formula spraying: Fill the clean water tank correctly, ensure it is seated properly, and check that the spray trigger is being pressed.
- Dirty water tank full: Empty the dirty water tank and clean the float assembly if the machine stops collecting water.
- Streaks on floor: Use the recommended amount of cleaning formula and make additional dry passes after washing.
- Brush roll not turning: Remove and clean the brush roll, then check the end caps and brush chamber for debris.
- Machine leaking: Check tank caps, gaskets, filter placement, and tank seating. Do not overfill either water tank.
Carpet Cleaner, SpotClean® & Little Green® Problems
- No spray from hose: Confirm the clean water tank is full, the formula tank is installed correctly, and the trigger is fully pressed.
- No suction from tool: Check the recovery tank, hose, nozzle, and dirty water tank seal for blockages or poor installation.
- Dirty water not collecting: Make sure the recovery tank is not full and the float is not stuck in the raised position.
- Water leaking: Inspect the tank cap, hose connection, nozzle, gasket, and carry handle area for loose or damaged seals.
- Carpet remains too wet: Make several slow dry passes without holding the spray trigger and improve room ventilation while drying.
Cordless Vacuum Charging & Battery Problems
- Battery will not charge: Check the charging adapter, wall outlet, charging dock contacts, and battery seating.
- Short runtime: Clean filters, clear brush roll blockages, fully charge the battery, and use lower power mode where suitable.
- Battery overheats: Stop using the vacuum, allow the battery to cool, and inspect for blocked airflow or damaged battery contacts.
- Charging indicator not lighting: Confirm the charger is connected to live power and check for dirt or corrosion on charging contacts.
Noise, Odor & Maintenance Tips
- High-pitched motor noise: This often indicates a blockage, full dirt tank, clogged filter, or air leak in the suction path.
- Rattling noise: Check the hose, nozzle, brush chamber, and dirt tank for hard objects such as coins, stones, or small toys.
- Burning smell: Turn off the vacuum immediately. Remove brush roll hair buildup and inspect belts, filters, and airflow passages.
- Musty odor: Empty the dirt tank, wash washable filters, and dry all water tanks and brush rolls completely before storage.
- Regular cleaning: Empty tanks, clean filters, remove hair from the brush roll, and inspect hoses after use.
Safety note: Always turn off and unplug the appliance before cleaning filters, clearing a blockage, removing the brush roll, emptying tanks, or performing maintenance. Do not use electrical vacuum components to pick up flammable liquids, hot ash, or hazardous materials.
